Training and Research

Jaipur Kathak Kendra aims to produce professionally skilled Kathak dancers .Kendra organizes workshops , seminars, & special lectures time to time to develop creative, innovative abilities and to encourage research oriented attitude in the students . Apart from regular classroom teachings and practical performances of dances renowned Artists of other Gharanas are invited to conduct special Interactive sessions on formal and technical aspects of this dance form which includes costumes, make up, light and stage designing as well. Many nationally acclaimed artists and scholars viz Late Pandit Durgalal ji, Rohini Bhate, Pandit Sunder Lalji, Pandit Ram Lalji, Dr Puru Dadheech etc were part of this .
  • In the month of December 2013 a workshop on ‘Abhinaya’was successfully conducted by eminent Kathak Scholar of Lucknow Gharana Dr Kumkum Dhar. All senior students of Kendra enthusiastically participated in this.
Kathak is a very important facet of cultural heritage of India and Jaipur Kathak Kendra is carrying forward the legacy of this traditional dance form among young generation. Kendra works as a propagator of this tradition through audio video recordings of old and rare Bandishes and compositions. These documented materials have become an invaluable treasure of the Kendra and have been extensively helpful in achieving ultimate goal of Kendra. The Kendra also supports research work on special choreographies with innovative ideas and new themes.
  • More than 10 full length ballets like Rasvarti, Ritgatha Cheer ki chatak, Maand, ‘Padharo Mahare Desh’ etc are documented and many more group compositions and solo recitals have been prepared and archived by the Kendra.
